Synopsis
CNN cameraman Margaret Moth fearlessly captures scenes from war zones. Sundance premiere with Christian Amanpour, directed by Lucy Lawless. I saw it in 2024. at the Sundance Film Festival. “Never look.” An engaging documentary about photojournalist Margaret Moth, delivered with insightful discussion, good presentation and a strong sense of direction and tone. Documentaries about photography and war are nothing new, as the documentary structure is neither elaborate nor spectacular, but the core of its poignant message, the direction and style of the documentary still keep the investment strong. The dialogues and concepts are well explored. Moth is an interesting person and the documentary does a great job of telling who she is, her influence on her work and what made her special. While there are some odd uses of music and some editing choices that are a bit confusing, I enjoyed it overall.
