Synopsis
A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
By ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives, including his own. The cast of “Shrinking” share their best defining moments from Season 1 and reveal who has the best Harrison Ford impression. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and was prepared to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least pitch it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that the project was being pitched to Harrison Ford, sparking interest from other notable actors.

In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he was elated nonetheless. Two episodes in, this show is promising, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and sometimes even strangely… it’s heartwarming in a way that most shows aren’t, only reminiscent of the show’s community with those elements.
Harrison Ford plays Dr
. I’m not sure if it’s exactly the therapist’s way of dealing with problems, but it certainly allows Jason Segel to focus on it. Rhodes, Jason’s boss and mentor of sorts. I wasn’t sure how his character would work on this show, but Rhodes’ antisocial nature certainly plays into the persona Ford is dealing with.
And the music in this show is so good
pretty good, considering the more troubling elements of his character Han Solo in Star Wars, it just fits into this show. Somehow too relatable, Sean (Luke Tenney) plays Jimmy (Segel)’s son while he and his daughter Alice (Lucita Maxwell) deal with their own family issues… What we see here seems so vivid and the possibilities maybe (?) endless, because I can see Jimmy heading towards these things. Btw, the opening theme of this show is so good, I didn’t even skip it while watching episode 2…
