Appeared in Graham Norton’s films: Nicole Kidman/Cynthia Erivo/James Norton/Chris McClausland/Benson Boone (2024)
Synopsis
A high-profile CEO puts her career and family at risk when she begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern. Jean Reno filmed a few scenes for the film, but they were completely cut from the final film.
The story revolves around a self-centered, power-hungry, and narcissistic CEO who cheats on her husband, to put it simply
The film attempts to tell the story from a female perspective, prioritizing emotions over logic, romanticizing the situation, and even attempting to justify her actions. Initially, it relies heavily on the trope of the “strong, independent woman,” portraying her as the victim of oppressive men who want to see her fail as a CEO, but this message later contradicts itself, suggesting that (some) women actually prefer to be subjugated by their male counterparts.
Their minds say A, but their feelings say B
This inconsistency not only confuses the narrative, but also undermines its message. The film also shows a lot of hypocrisy from the CEO, perhaps intended to shed light on the complexities of the female psyche.
If that was the intention, it succeeded in some ways
However, the film remains overly romanticized, unrealistic, slow, and boring, making it difficult to stay engaged. Ultimately, the film seems to appeal more to female audiences, which probably reflects its target audience.
